FAQ

Security, privacy, payments, and family care questions.

Clear answers for families who want health information organised securely instead of scattered across chats and general-purpose AI tools.

Why not just use WhatsApp for family health updates?

WhatsApp is useful for quick messages, but health records quickly become fragmented across photos, PDFs, calls, and chat history. NivaCare keeps reports, prescriptions, medicine updates, symptoms, and doctor notes in one structured family health timeline.

Do families need to upload medical documents to ChatGPT?

No. NivaCare is designed so families do not need to upload private reports into general-purpose AI tools. Documents are uploaded into NivaCare and summarised inside the controlled care platform.

Is NivaCare HIPAA compliant?

NivaCare includes HIPAA-aware workflows such as consent capture, role-based access, audit logs, protected health-information handling, and encryption requirements. Final compliance also depends on production hosting, operational policies, and signed agreements.

Where are documents stored?

For production, NivaCare should use encrypted object storage such as AWS S3 with server-side encryption and AWS KMS, or an equivalent secure storage provider. Local development builds may store files locally for testing.

Who can see uploaded reports and prescriptions?

Access is controlled by authenticated roles and care-circle permissions. A parent, family caregiver, doctor, nurse, or admin should only access the modules and records their role permits.

How do payments work?

Paid subscriptions are processed through Stripe when Stripe keys and price IDs are configured. The app also supports a local test checkout mode so the subscription flow can be validated without live Stripe credentials.

Can users export or delete their data?

Yes. The backend includes compliance APIs for consent management, data export, audit logs, user settings, and account deletion. These are surfaced from account settings for signed-in users.

Does AI replace a doctor?

No. AI summaries help organise information and prepare families for conversations. NivaCare does not provide diagnosis, treatment, or emergency medical advice.
